His quality winemaking has been celebrated by Food & Wine, The Wine Spectator, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Wall Street Journal, as well as being a main focus in the book The New California Wine by Jon Bonne. Matthiasson began making wine in Napa Valley in 2003.
